Montgomery Jury Awards Punitive Damages for Dangerous Defective Tire

On April 19, 2007, a Montgomery jury awarded $2 million dollars in punitive damages and $2 million dollars in compensatory damages to a woman who was paralyzed when her SUV rolled over after the tread on one of her tires separated. The tire had been recalled in August 2002 and even though the plaintiff had her car serviced at Wal-Mart nine times after the recall, it failed to notify her of the problem with the tire.
