Yankee's first baseman, Andy Phillips, left camp Wednesday after being notified that his mother was involved in a serious car crash in Alabama.

While the team didn't release many details, they did report the accident involved a truck and she is in intensive care in serious condition.

These past couple of years has been tough for Phillips, whose wife underwent treatment for cancer last year after a miscarriage. He has had a lot of issues to deal with. We all hope and pray that everything will be okay, said manager Joe Torre.
